I am Sheena Moore (RPCV Ghana, Agriculture 2012–2014). I am 35-years-old, creative entrepreneur, international hula hooper, and former GIS Specialist.
Serving in the Peace Corps inspired me to live with purpose, passion, and possibility. In 2019, I left my job at the EPA and moved to Accra, Ghana to join the circus—yes, really! I became a professional hula hooper and fire breather, founded Zbu Entertainment, and spent six years producing shows, teaching hoop dance, making hoops, and advocating for local artists to be seen, heard, and paid what they are worth. I also remained connected to the village where I served.
At the end of 2023 I survived a motorcycle accident which brought me back to my birthplace in the Pacific Northwest. Returning stirred feelings of reverse culture shock and homesickness for Ghana, yet I remain ambitious as I heal and embrace a slower rhythm of life.
These days, you’ll find me under the evergreens, drinking coffee with my cats, gardening for hours, writing poetry, floating on the Washougal River—and yes, still hula hooping!
The Peace Corps goal of promoting cultural understanding continues to guide me. As your President, I look forward to making meaningful memories, continuing the good work in our communities, and bridging gaps between the cultures we represent.
